Other special EVENTS, AWARDS, HAPPENINGS

  • WVBA presented the Sportsman’s Organization of the Year by the Division of Natural Resources.  DNR also names Director John Drangmeister as Sportsman of the Year.

  • WVBA ask Game Commission to consider putting cross-bow weapon on the check-in tag to track effectiveness of this new legal weapon in WV.

  • WVBA makes proposal at Game Commission meeting to begin regular archery season on Saturday closest to September 15th of each year.

  • National Rifle Association conducts post-card mailing designed to influence DNR into opening Logan, Ming, McDowell and Wyoming counties to a rifle deer season.  Post cards contain false statements, proposal does not consider impact to the resource and cards also sent to NRA members outside the 4 counties encouraging them to make false statements in support of the proposal.  WVBA counters this action with information in VOICE and organizing protest at Game Commission meeting along with affiliated clubs and other interested parties.
