Division of Natural Resources/Legislative Agenda

At the first quarter DNR Commission, the WVBA requested that the “bear damage tag/license” cost be raised from four to five dollars; with extra dollar being used for relocation and research on problem bears.  Larry Lawson, WVBA DNR/Legislative Representative also thanked the Commission for the 14 additional bowhunting only bear counties and the either sex designation for the Class RB tag in the antlerless counties.

Of special note was a statement by a representative of the Muzzleloaders Association informing the Commission they would not be taking up the Commissions valuable time with comments; but instead would go through the Legislature for any changes in their season.

During the Legislative session, a renewed effort was made to divert the DNR license money to the State General Fund.  State law mandates that all hunting/fishing license dollars stay with the DNR.  Some in the Legislature want to change the law and take your money.

The WVBA requests that handicapped hunters be allowed to modify their bows in any way needed to meet their handicap.
